Wigmore Hall – Music for Life

“Ros led two excellent and engaging half-day workshops with musicians from Music for Life in April 2024 (involving 26 musicians across two dates).

The workshops provided opportunities for team members to connect in new ways and to receive fresh insight about communicating with participants through non-verbal communication.

The activities Ros facilitated were thought provoking and helped the team focus and reflect on the fundamentals of connecting with others, the emotions involved, and ways in which this can be translated into musical improvisation.

Ros facilitated the sessions with care and sensitivity and created a space where musicians could take creative risks and openly share reflections.”

Musicians’ feedback :

I enjoyed the Development afternoon a great deal and it was lovely to do some inventive playing.”

“The session with Ros was an opportunity to learn and reflect, but also to enjoy being immersed in the activities and music making as a participant – I feel this was not only nice and relaxing, but also very important in order to keep my facilitation fresh and engaging, by understanding how activities can be perceived by participants. The highlights for me were the activities away from the instruments (movement, body percussion, voice) as they showed me various new ways to engage and communicate beyond words and beyond the “comfort” of my main instrument, while also reminding me that music and being musical can be so much more than using instruments – particularly as instruments may feel scary at the start for many people!”

“Thank you again for organising such a positive and thought-provoking workshop for us! I did feel reconnected with the team and inspired to try think more deeply about the simplest interactions we can have with each other.”

“It touched us all so deeply. I feel the privilege of this being ‘work’ and being in the amazing surroundings of the Wigmore Hall. Playing freely with like-minded, amazing musicians, full of joy and sensitivity, we could take risks in expressing ourselves. Improvising together like this is the most wonderful way to make genuine music for me.”
